Doggie De Je Vu

This was the crazy scene in our kitchen last night: Simon wildly wrestling with Ollie, when I realized that they were playing tug of war... with a dog toy... with their mouths...!  Yuck!  What is a mother to do?  Shout something about germs and wash his mouth out with soap?  Oh no, not me.  I had to grab the camera, because this moment instantly reminded me of a similar situation two and a half years ago... also in the kitchen... also with a dog toy...

I have to say, the kid has grown, but not much has changed!  Different dog, different kitchen, but same old Simon!  He keeps us entertained, everyday.  These pictures were taken on July 18, 2006.  Simon was just three weeks older than Henry is today (by the way, Henry is 9 months old TODAY!) my, how time flies!  Hope this makes you laugh like I did!

Monday Morning

A particularly unproductive Monday morning, as a matter of fact.  I have been knocked down by a heck-of-a-cold.  I did muster the energy to take some cute pictures of the boys in the kitchen this morning.  I was proudly watching Henry gnaw a bagel to bits and realized how terrible I have been about my picture taking lately.

So, I found the camera and was having fun taking pictures of Kiddo as he put his new chompers to use, demolishing a banana and half a bagel (Henry wants very little to do with baby food these days!)

When Simon realized his brother had my undivided attention, he began to put on an entertaining show to the tune of "Take a picture of me!  Take a picture of me!"  For some reason, I accidentally erased those of Simon, so look for them in a future post!  For now, here is Henry, "pre-helmet."

I think the worst is behind us!!!

I am so happy to say that after months of testing and doctor appointments, Henry is doing great!  His kidney test this week reassured us that he does NOT have reflux, and the other tests have revealed no further medical issues.  On Thursday, February 26th Henry will begin wearing his spiffy new helmet to reshape his asymmetrical skull, and other than some physical therapy and a few follow up appointments we are pretty much done!  The gene testing will take months to come back with definitive results, but at this point putting a label on Henry's condition is mostly so we know what to expect long term.  Today, Henry is a strong healthy baby, who would be happy... if he weren't in the throes of teething!  Since our last update, Henry has popped out four new top teeth, and seems to be working on a few more bottom teeth.  Poor kiddo, they are really causing him some serious discomfort.  But as long as that is the worst thing we have to worry about... THANK GOD!  And thanks to all our family and friends for the support, understanding, patience and prayers over the last few months!

This is a test post to figure out how all this blogging is supposed to work!  Wish me luck!
